Gregory Leahy
About
As outlined in my resume, I am a senior executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning government affairs, finance, legal, and operations across asset management, financial services, aviation, energy and public and private technology companies.
I have served as General Counsel of two public technology companies and as Deputy General Counsel at two financial institutions, my career has been equally defined by building and leading high-impact government affairs and enterprise operating functions. I have held multiple senior roles—including Chief Government Affairs Officer, Chief Regulatory Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief People Officer, Head of M&A, Head of Real Estate, and Head of the Americas—reflecting a consistent mandate to influence policy outcomes, navigate complex regulatory environments, and scale global businesses.
There have been two consistent aspects of my career, first I have served as the Chief Operating Officer of a variety of investment funds across various verticals of investing – real assets, Asia, Real Estate, Energy, Consumer, Healthcare and Litigation.
The second consistent of my career has been the intersection of investments and government affairs which has been a central and differentiating thread throughout my career. I have built and led government relations platforms from the ground up, developing bipartisan relationships with elected and appointed officials across the federal government and all fifty states. I have successfully advanced and defeated legislation at both the federal and state levels, consistently aligning policy strategy with commercial objectives. I have advised the last two administrations and several cabinet secretaries in the last two administrations. My approach is pragmatic and results-oriented, grounded in credibility, persistence, and the ability to operate effectively across political environments.
During my more than eleven years as a Managing Director at Fortress Investment Group, I founded and led the firm’s Government Relations function while also serving as Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the Credit Funds business. In these roles, I integrated policy strategy directly into business operations—supporting capital formation, protecting and enhancing enterprise value, and advising senior investment leadership on regulatory and legislative developments affecting multiple asset classes.
Three recent highlights of my government affairs work were helping to defeat portions of the “big beautiful bill” related to litigation funding, helping secure billions of funding for nuclear energy and overriding a gubernatorial veto to secure recognition of nuclear energy as a renewable resource at the state level— all were outcomes that required coordinated stakeholder engagement, legislative strategy, and sustained bipartisan advocacy.
Across my career, I have combined policy expertise with hands-on operating leadership, enabling me to step into complex situations, drive cross-functional coordination, and deliver results at both the strategic and execution levels.
I am confident that my experience enables me to contribute meaningfully from day one, particularly in roles requiring senior leadership at the intersection of government affairs, regulation, and asset management operations.
Thank you again for your time.
All the best,
Greg
